Geography Curriculum

At St Nicholas, we follow the Kapow Primary scheme of work to ensure our children experience a broad range of topics throughout their time in primary school.

These topics include:

What is it like to live in Shanghai? (Year 1)

Why is our world wonderful? (Year 2)

Why do people live near volcanoes? (Year 3)

Where does our food come from? (Year 4)

Where does our energy come from? (Year 5)

What is life like in the Alps? (Year 6)

In Reception, we follow the EYFS framework. Understanding the world involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community. The frequency and range of children’s personal experiences increases their knowledge and sense of the world around them.

See our full curriculum overview below.

Geography enrichment

We offer a wide range of experiences, visitors and trips which allow our children to be immersed in their geographical learning. These opportunities enrich our children’s learning ensuring they develop a secure knowledge of their topics.
