Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At St Nicholas C of E Primary School we aim to create a happy, safe and secure environment, where members of the school community enjoy learning, achieve their potential and respect and value each other as well as themselves.

As an inclusive school - the teaching and learning, achievements, attitudes and well-being of every young person matters.  We take into account pupils’ varied life experiences and needs, providing equal opportunities for all pupils, whatever their age, disability, race, religion or belief, sex, attainment and background, to ensure that every child really does matter.

Our SEND Policy and Information Report (above) explains: What we can offer our pupils, how we identify their need, how we support our pupils, how we monitor their progress and how we will include parents/carers in the process.

Special Educational Needs Coordinator

Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) at St Nicholas C of E Primary is Mrs Helen Crossen. She works all day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  If you would like to speak to Mrs Crossen please call the main office on 01761 432101 to request an appointment.

The Local Offer

From September 2014, every Local Authority was required to publish information about services they expected to be available in their area for children and young people from birth to 25 who have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND); and also services outside of the area which they expect children and young people from their area will use. This will be known as the ‘Local Offer’.

The Local Offer puts all the information about education, health and care services, leisure activities and support groups in one place.

Our Local Offer can be found here (Click to take you to our Local Offer)

Please feel free to contact us and talk to Mrs. Crossen, our SENCo, if you have any worries, however small.
