Commotion in the Ocean
Our topic for Term 6 is 'Commotion in the Ocean'.
We have already kicked off our learning by visiting the aquarium at Bristol. We had lots of fun learning about all the different fish and particularly enjoyed looking at the seahorses and touching the enormous shark teeth!
During the term we will be exploring texts such as 'The Rainbow Fish' and of course our topic title 'Commotion in the Ocean'. We will also be exploring non-fiction texts to help us learn about the different creatures that live in the sea.
Please take a look at the pictures below of us enjoying our day out at the aquarium.
Term 4 and 5
'The Great Outdoors'
Our topic this term is 'The Great Outdoors'. We have been exploring stories such as Jack and the Beanstalk, The Enormous Turnip and Oliver's Vegetables. We have also been looking at the different plants that are growing around the school.
We recently visited Carymoor Environmental Centre where we enjoyed pond dipping, pretending to be dragonflies and building dens from willow. We made up a rain song and Neil tipped water over our shelters to see if they were waterproof.
Take a look at the photos below to see how much fun we had on the day.
We have also been learning about what plants need to grow. We have been planting cress and bean seeds and keeping a close eye on their progress. We recently enjoyed eating sandwiches that we made, using the cress that we had grown. Here are the pictures of us enjoying the picnic!
Our topic for term 3 is
'Once Upon a Time'.
During term 3 we will be expanding our vocabulary as we use describing words to talk about story characters such as 'The Big Bad Wolf' and the magician from Aladdin. We will also be looking at a range of materials and exploring their properties. We are continuing to talk about the change in the seasons and identifying appropriate clothing to wear in different weather.
Look out for more of art work where we will be creating wintry scenes and drawing a range of story characters.
We have been exploring different materials and using words such as hard, soft, shiny and bendy to describe them.
We have been listening to the story of The Three Little Pigs. The photos below show us sequencing pictures from the story.
We are becoming more confident at number recognition and making great progress with our writing.
Welcome to Frome Class: Terms 1 and 2.
Our topic is Families, Fur and Feathers.
At the moment we are very busy, getting used to our new class and making new friends. We are having lots of fun playing outside in the sand pit and mud kitchen and exploring the paint, play dough and interactive whiteboard games inside the classroom.
We have been drawing pictures of ourselves and our pets and are looking forward to a visit from Zoolab later on in the term.
Please take a look at the photos below. We had a great time touching and looking at the different animals.
